Beginning of our trip

Friday we watched a bit of the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and then got in our RV to head out through LA. We thought we would camp by the beach in Ventura, but no places were left so we ended up sleeping a few hours across from Pea Soup Anderson's in Buellton and then left early to go farther north. We got gas at Costco in San Luis Obispo and got breakfast @Margie's dinner and then headed to Atascadero and got a space at their Elk's Lodge. We took a shower and Lee Ramont came to pick us up. We had a great time at Dick Ramont's 80th birthday and got to see so many people that we hadn't seen for such a long time and got to meet the grandkids!
Sunday morning we headed out about 7:30 and made it to Grants Pass,OR where we stayed at Cypress Point along the Rogue River about 680 miles or so. It is nice here in the shade trees! Lake Shasta had many, many boats and houseboats on it. The road through the mountains at Lake Shasta is actually at a lower elevation than our house is in Temecula.
